A New Chapter: My Art Studio Is Opening Soon

A few months ago, we found a space that will soon become something I have dreamed about for a long time — my own art studio and gallery.

The studio is located in Novi Sad, Serbia, just a two-minute walk from our home, and it will officially operate through my association, “Devojka sa krilima” (Girl With Wings).


Finding the right space

When we started searching, being in the strict city center or on the busiest street was never our priority.

What mattered much more was finding a space with the right layout, in a pleasant neighborhood, and most importantly — somewhere close to our home.

Being only a few minutes away means that we can spend less time traveling back and forth and more time where it really matters: creating, working and being together as a family.

Eventually, we discovered a city-owned commercial space that was available for rent. As soon as we saw the address, we knew we had to take a look.

The location was almost perfect.

The space itself, however, was far from it. 😊

It had not been properly renovated for around 15 years and had most recently been used as a small kindergarten. It was clear from the beginning that a lot of work would be needed before it could become the studio we imagined.

From an old space to our future studio

Together with the City, we began renovating the space and slowly transformed it from what you see in the first photos into what it looks like today.

There is still plenty to do, especially when it comes to furnishing and all the details, but the vision is finally becoming real.

The studio has three large rooms visible from the storefront windows.

Two of them will become a gallery space, where my original paintings and other artworks can be displayed.

The third room will be dedicated to children — a welcoming little creative space where they will be able to play, draw, color and create.

Accessibility was also very important to us.

Originally, the space had two very small bathrooms. We decided to combine them into one larger, accessible bathroom, designed so that it can also comfortably be used by people who use wheelchairs.

Behind the gallery area, there will be a kitchen with a small dining area, and finally, there is one more room.

My painting studio

The last room will be my actual working studio — the place where I will paint.

This is where my canvases, paints and materials will live, where new ideas will turn into paintings, and where I expect to spend most of my working days.

After years of creating in different spaces, having a room designed specifically around the way I work feels incredibly special.

And I can't wait to show you what it looks like when everything is finally in place.

Opening in October

If everything goes according to plan, we expect the official opening in October 2026.

Until then, there is still a lot happening — furniture, lighting, gallery walls, my working area and many other details that will slowly turn an empty renovated space into Girl With Wings Studio & Gallery.
